Miskolctapolca holiday resort lies in a picturesque valley at the foot of the Bükk Mountain. This place with its particularly beautiful surrounding, with its medicinal thermal springs and cave baths of natural hot water is more and more appreciated by the inland and the foreign visitors, as well. Visitors who like bathing can choose among open-air bath, thermal bath, lake and cave bath or bath tub in any kind of weather.
Visitors can take nice walks on the promenades, under the old trees of the beautifully arranged park, and those who like longer tours can hike along signed forest path to the different places of excursions in Bükk Mountain. The special value of this watering-place is the threefold bath-complex: thermal, cave and lake bath. The water of the thermal bath has been used for curing since the 16th century.
The watering-place was built up in 1938, and after repeated enlarging it has got its present form. The 31 centigrade degrees warm water containing iodine, bromide, potassium and radiumemanation is very good for curing circulatory trouble, blood-vessel disorder and different nervous complaints. One of the two inner basins serves definitely therapeutic aims, while in the other one you can freely swim and play. The greatest pleasure of the threefold bath-complex is the cave-bath. This cave with its natural lake was built in and connected with the thermal bath in 1958. This unique bath has many hundred thousand visitors a year, not only for the aesthetical beauty of its wonderful cave galleries, flues and waterfalls but for the entirely dustproof cave-air which stops respiratory troubles too. The cave-bath together with the thermal and lake-bath is fed by the medicinal thermal spring. The modern lake-bath opened in the recent past. The shell-formed reinforced concrete structure covering the basin makes possible open-air bathing even in bad weather.
Guests can sun-bathe in sunny weather and refresh in the cooler water basin. For those who like nature the Bükk Mountain and Zemplén offers wonderful trips to the Stalactite Caves of Aggtelek which is a part of the World Inheritance, to the Szalajka Valley of Szilvásvárad, to Lillafüred, to the Bükk Plateau, and also to the pilgrim places of the Hungarian culture: Sárospatak, Széphalom, and Vizsoly (where the first Hungarian Bible was written). We also host our guests at the "ROMANTIC APARTMENT HOUSE" in the HARKÁLY VILLA (WOODPECKER) (see the picture) where there are double, three and four-bedroomed fully equipped apartments. Be our guest!
